Weather & Winter Retreat

Lake Effect Winter Retreat

Winter Retreat is upon us once again and Lake Effect '08 is going to be the best ever! We have graciously extended the registration deadline to Sunday, December 16. If you don't have a flyer and registration form, you can get one here.

World Pulse Festival here we come!

So with much arm-twisting I'm giving in and we will be taking a church van to World Pulse Festival. We can only take 14 additional people, so you MUST add a comment saying you want to ride. You also need to indicate whether or not you need a ticket. I'll take care of that for you. So...I look forward to a full van for Saturday. We will depart from the gym at 7:30am SHARP! and return in the evening. I can give you a ride home if necessary. Bring $ for food throughout the day.

Settling in at Schroon Lake

After another uneventful travel day, everyone was at their camp destinations by 4:30 this afternoon. Everyone seems to be doing fine (although I didn't check to make sure the Island dwellers made it successfully up Cardiac Hill). We'll go to both camps tomorrow and check out their counselors and cabins.

On the Road Again

We hit the road this morning around 5:15am and traveled with no problems on our part (a few traffic issues, but nothing major). We look forward to pulling out of the parking lot of Bethel Baptist Church in Getzville, NY tomorrow morning at 6:00am.

It's been a long, hard school year, and it's time to celebrate! The area NAB churches are hosting an End of Year Party at Oakridge Baptist on May 27th. Click here for full details. So the school year has started and it's time for a brush up on the Napier Youth blog. We need to know how many of you take advantage of this valuable resource. We need you to post comments here and tell us what you'd like to see in addition to what's already here. Be sure you look at the sidebars to see if the stuff you want is there before saying "man, we really need to post pics of activities and stuff!". Well, that's what the media gallery is for. Boating Extravaganza This Saturday

The Parent Appreciation Dinner the was scheduled for Saturday night, May 20 has been postponed. I'm looking forward to rescheduling this great event for the fall.

Extreme Makeover Update

We are now waiting on carpet to be installed so that we can assemble furniture and get the room finished up. A crew will be doing the detailing on the walls this weekend, so the paint will be completed. Look for more pics in an upcoming update.

Extreme Makeover - Youth Room Edition | Day 4

Things are nearly completed paint wise in the room. We will be doing the finishing touches in the next few days. Attention Sr. High - Friday's event...Road Trip. We'll go to IKEA to look for cool stuff to decorate the room with, then to Giordano's for some good pizza. We are limited to 10 teens so RSVP soon. Those who came to work Monday - Wednesday will receive spaces first. Here's the pics:

The 2nd coat has been applied to the wall and we will resume at 1pm today to begin the border and spatter the walls. This will be messy...be prepared. Pics will be posted soon after we're done for the day.

Extreme Makeover - Youth Room Edition | Days 1 & 2

Here's what the room looks like after days 1 and 2 of Extreme Makeover - Youth Room Edition

Day 3 will be split up into 2 sections...At 8 AM, we need to put a 2nd coat of paint on the walls. In the afternoon we will begin to paint the boarders around the senior wall as well as the Wall-O-Whiteboard. Look forward to seeing you tomorrow.

Afterglow Rescheduled

Since we have a special business meeting scheduled for Sunday night, the afterglow previously scheduled for March 19 has now been rescheduled for March 26. I'll give you the location as soon as it's verified.

Progressive Dinner this Saturday

We've been trying to plan a progressive dinner for ever! But now, it's finally here. I hope you plan to join us Saturday night for the first annual Napier Youth Progressive Dinner. Meet at the gym at 5pm. We should be back sometime before 9pm I'm guessing, but since I've never done one of these before, I'm not sure. Feel free to have your parents call my cell if they're curious.

New Look for Website

Well, you've asked for it, and you've got it. I've traded the old youth site for the blog format. Many of you visited this place about a year ago, but I've twaeked a few things. It's also easier to make changes and post here than a traditional website. Look to the right for a link to the Napier Youth Media Gallery, which currently contains pics from the last 2 winter retreats. It's much easier to add pics here than the old way. And yes, I already hear you saying "where's the video from...?" I know, I will be working on that hardcore next week. I hope you like the improvements...there'll be many more to come.

New Time for High School

Following a discussion on this matter at Sunday’s parent’s meeting, as well as approval by the church board, high school youth group will be moving once again.

Beginning March 5, Napier Youth – High School will meet from 6 to 8pm on Sundays. This Saturday, February 25, will be the last Saturday youth group meeting.

On Sundays, we will spend an hour (6-7pm) in worship (something many have been missing in youth group for a while), teaching, and small groups. From 7-8, we will fellowship with one another and participate in some group activities.

I greatly appreciate all who gave a genuine commitment to the move to Saturday night. It’s my hope that a change back to Sunday will help us to better achieve our church wide purpose of making disciples, worshiping, ministering, and witnessing.
